The Card's Image and Symbolism

A rider proceeds with a laurel wreath on their head, on a white horse, with a celebrating crowd around them. There is also a wreath on their staff, held high. People are not afraid of them: they accompany them.

This is the moment of recognition. Not when someone achieves something – that was the Four. This is when others also see it.

The five wands around them

Notice a detail: the rider did not come alone. The five wands around them belong to others – to those who were by their side, who carried their own share.

Victory is never solitary, no matter what we think of it. Anyone who believes they did it alone simply hasn't looked back. This card specifically asks you to look.

The white horse

The horse is white and steps calmly. Pure power that obeys. This card is not about violent victory, not about someone being defeated.

It is about when someone has done what they said they would. The white horse indicates that the result came through a pure path – and precisely for this reason, it can be worn.

The wreath that withers

There is a wreath on their head, not a crown. This is the most beautiful and strictest detail of this card. The crown remains; the wreath withers.

Recognition is fleeting. Enjoy it, but do not build upon it. He who lives for applause becomes vulnerable to those who applaud – and the crowd will be celebrating someone else next week. The wreath is for you to experience what it's like once; not to keep.

Healthy pride

This card gives permission for something many do not dare: to rejoice in what you have achieved, and not to be ashamed.

Modesty is only a virtue until it becomes self-denial. He who never acknowledges his own achievements is not humble – he simply doesn't believe he deserves it. And these two look very different from the inside.

The Shadow Side

It has two shadows. One is vanity: when someone no longer loves the work, but the visibility, and from then on makes decisions that look good but do not lead forward.

The other is the opposite: the rejection of victory. When someone has achieved something and immediately belittles it – it was luck, others could have done it, it's not such a big deal. This is not modesty, but fear of it being taken away.

The number six

In the tarot, six is the number of harmony and balance. After the chaos of the five, order sets in: the struggle is over, the situation has cleared up, everyone has found their place.

In the suit of Wands, this is particularly important. The fire series reaches its first true resting point here, where not only do you feel good, but it is also recognized around you. This is a rare moment – and on the next card, the seven, pressure will come again. That's why it's worth living it while it lasts.
