Description
In love, The Fool is about that moment when you have to say something whose consequences you don't know in advance, and that's why this card speaks more about courage than about luck.
Look closely at the image, because his foot is an inch from the edge, yet his face is lifted upwards, towards the sun, and not downwards, towards the abyss — not because he doesn't know the chasm is there, but because he has understood something that most people deny their whole lives: that you can only love if you don't ask for a guarantee, because there is none, and never has been.
Just think about it, every important thing that has ever happened to you in this area started exactly on such an edge — when you first told someone you loved them, and you had no idea what you would get back; when you let someone into your home and your life; when you decided to try again, even though it had hurt once before.
If you are alone now, then observe the bundle swinging on his shoulder, which is ridiculously small, as he has so little; and he who carries little goes fast — because the real question is not whether you are ready, but how much you are carrying with you from what has long since ended: every past disappointment, every "never again," every story about what people are like, is on your back, and it's so heavy that you can't even move.
If you are in a relationship, then this card asks you to restart something — not from the beginning, but anew: a conversation you've been putting off for weeks, an unspoken sentence, or an approach you fear because the answer might be no.
Now look at the dog beside his feet, barking and jumping, because in this lies the whole secret of this card: the same inner voice can be protective and it can be fear, and you have to decide which one speaks within you when it whispers not to open up, not to trust, not to ask — because he who always listens to it never sets off, and he who never listens to it falls.
The white rose held in his hand is a sign of pure intention, which gives you the measure today to ask yourself: who is the step you are preparing for really for — because if you want to prove something to anyone with it, then that is no longer love, but something else that only looks like it.
Message
You will never be more prepared than you are now — only older.
I know you know exactly what I'm talking about, because there's that message you didn't send, that sentence you've been turning over in your mind for weeks, or that person you told yourself you'd approach when you were ready, when you had yourself together, when the right moment came.
Look closely at the card, because everything is in it: a young person stands on the edge of a cliff, their foot barely an inch from where the earth ends, a ridiculously small bundle sways on their shoulder, they hold a white rose in their hand, and their face is lifted towards the sun, not towards the abyss.
And now notice what number is on this card, because although it is the very first card in this deck, it doesn't have a one on it, but a zero — and that, strictly speaking, isn't even a number, but the state from which everything begins, and precisely because of this, it has no weight, no past, so it can go anywhere.
This is your message tonight, because in that thing you fear, you are nobody yet, and this is precisely your freedom: he who is nobody yet can become anybody.
You say to this that you need to get yourself together first, and I tell you with love that every important thing that has ever happened to you began exactly on such an edge, when you first told someone you loved them, and you had no idea what you would get back — because you can only love if you don't ask for a guarantee, because there is no such thing, and there never was.
Now look at the dog beside their feet, barking, jumping, and pulling, because in this detail lies the deepest secret of this card: the same inner voice can be protective care and it can be fear, and you have to decide which one speaks within you when it whispers that they surely don't want it, that you should wait another week, that they will speak first — and you know the answer, you just don't like it.
And finally, look at that ridiculously small bundle, because that's all someone has, and he who carries little goes fast: but your back is full of all previous disappointments and all "never agains," so you don't need more preparation, but fewer burdens.
Don't throw everything away, just take the first step, today, because that one is enough — send that message, ask that question, say that sentence.
In a reversed position, the problem is not that you are thoughtless, but that you have been standing on the same edge for months, preparing, which from the outside looks like caution, but in reality means you are growing old there.
