FIVE OF WANDS – finances
Primary meaning
Reversed meaning
Description
The Five of Wands indicates financial demands coming from multiple directions.
You need money for several things. Multiple people are expecting something from you. Several goals are competing for the same resources – and all of them are urgent.
This card is not about lack, but about being scattered. The tension arises because the order of things has not been decided. Where there is no priority, everything is urgent.
The solution is not more money. It's a decision. What comes first? Once that's established, the noise will be cut in half.
The card can also indicate a disputed matter: an accounting, a debt, shared expenses where several people are pulling in different directions. The advice is the same here too: clear communication, calmly.
Its shadow: procrastination. When someone doesn't decide because they don't want to disappoint anyone – and thus ends up disappointing everyone.
Message
The angels send this message: organize, don't struggle.
If your financial situation is currently tense, take a good look: it's probably not that too little is coming in. The problem is that it's going in five directions at once, and none of them are getting enough.
Sit down for half an hour and write down where everything is going. Not neatly, just honestly. Most financial tension is not resolved by earning more, but by finally understanding it.
If you are in a competitive situation – several of you are applying for the same thing, or there's pressure on you to lower your price – please, don't compete on price. Anyone who wants to be cheaper will always find someone who is even cheaper. Compete on what makes you different.
If there's an argument about money in the family or in a joint matter, don't win with arguments, but with numbers. Write it down, share it, make it visible. It's harder to argue a fifth time about something that's written down.
And don't make decisions when you're tired. Contracts signed under pressure and "yeses" uttered when exhausted cost the most. If something is urgent, sleep on it – what can't wait one night is usually not a good offer.
If the card appears in a reversed position: if you are procrastinating on tidying up, if you don't dare to look at the numbers, if you are just drifting – start with one thing. Look at how much comes in and how much goes out in a month. Nothing else.
