In finances, the Seven of Pentacles is the card of patience – and that is the hardest virtue to ask for when it comes to money.

Look at the picture. A man stands in his garden, leaning on a hoe, with six coins on the bush in front of him. It's not a failure: the harvest is there. But it's not ripe yet. And he doesn't know if what he's doing is wisdom or self-deception.

This card is of the Earth element, and that is its essence. Everything grows slowly in the earth. You cannot rush it, and you cannot pull it out of the ground to see if it has roots – whoever does this kills the plant. If you don't see the return now, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It means it's underground.

The seventh coin, however, lies on the ground separately. You must already write something off. Not everything – one thing. There's an investment, a debt, a venture that you're still watering, precisely because you've already put a lot of money into it. This is the most expensive mistake you can make with money: throwing good money after bad.

The dropped coin is not a failure. It's tuition. You've paid it – now don't pay any more.

And don't make decisions when you're tired. The man leaning on the hoe is exhausted – when exhausted, everything long-term seems meaningless. This is not clarity. This is fatigue.

Most people quit here: not because of the loss, but because it's boring to wait.

Don't be ashamed. This is exactly why the angels brought this card: it's okay to doubt. Someone who never stops to take stock isn't persistent – they're just blind.
