The card’s image and symbolism
A young figure stands on the seashore, holding a cup. And from the cup, a fish looks back at him.
This is one of tarot’s strangest and most beautiful images. The page is not scared. Nor does he laugh at it. He bows a little and watches – as if it were the most natural thing in the world for a fish to speak to him from a cup.
The fish comes from the unconscious. It is the intuition, the dream, the idea that appears out of nowhere, with no explanation. Tarot here teaches you: when something like this happens, don’t dismiss it. Lean in and listen to it.
Because most of us do dismiss it. The feeling that came at four in the morning. The idea that came in the shower. The inexplicable certainty that something is not right. As adults, we learned that this isn't serious.

The page is the youngest court figure. He is not a master; he doesn’t know how to do it. But he is the only one who still pays attention to the fish.
