TWO OF SWORDS – love

The Two of Swords in love is the card of the heart left in suspension. Not a breakup, not a love – but that prolonged in-between state where both fit, and precisely for that reason, neither manifests.

This card often indicates a relationship that is neither bad nor good. You can't leave it because there's no concrete problem. You can't deepen it because something is missing. So everything remains on the table: uncomfortably, but securely.

Other times, it signifies a choice between two people. Or the situation where someone doesn't tell you where you stand with them – and you accept the ambiguity because as long as it's not spoken, there's still hope.

The blindfold over their eyes is the most painful detail here. You're not blind. You just aren't looking. Because what you would see, you would have to do something about. And it's easier to say you don't know than to say you know, but you're afraid.

The two crossed swords are precisely in front of the heart. This is the whole secret of this card: as long as you hold onto both possibilities, your heart will remain closed. Love can neither come out of it nor enter it. That's why this state is so empty, even though it appears balanced from the outside.

But the sea behind them is there. Your feelings haven't disappeared – you just aren't looking at them. And this card asks you: in love, the head will never decide. Two people, two arguments, two visions of the future will forever remain of equal weight. The answer comes from what you don't want to look at.

The angels are telling you: you know what it is. You don't have to look for it – as you read this, it has already sprung to mind. That conversation, that decision, that person. This card has come to you for it.

Take off the blindfold. I know you don't want to. As long as you don't look, everything is still possible: you can still hope, you can still make excuses, you can still say it will become clear later. But hope is not love. Hope is just the shadow of love on the wall.

And pay attention to what this costs you. It’s not that nothing is happening that hurts. But that your heart is also closed in the meantime. The two swords crossed exactly in front of it. As long as you hold both, neither joy nor relief can enter – only weariness remains.

Don't wait for your head to give you the answer. Your head has been down both paths a thousand times, and that's precisely why it's a stalemate. Two arguments of equal weight will never overcome one another.

Instead, quiet down. Place your hand on your heart and simply ask: which one do I fear – and which one makes my heart constrict? They are not the same. The first requires courage. The second is a warning.

And remember: there's no such thing as not deciding. Procrastination is also a decision, only you don't make it, but time makes it for you. And time doesn't consider you when it decides.

If the card appears in reverse: that's good news. The blindfold slips off, the fog dissipates, and the decision is born. It might hurt. But it will set you free – and your heart can finally open. Whatever you choose, it will be better than continuing to sit on the sidelines.
