One: read what you sign. Completely, even the fine print. And ask about that one point that you know is vague. If someone gets offended by your question, that's the answer itself. Someone who plays clean is not bothered by a question.

The other is harder. Look at the other hand on the card: it's open. This woman had every reason to clench her fist, and yet she didn't.

Because there's a point where sobriety turns into fear. When you no longer don't spend because you are wise, but because you are terrified. When everyone seems like a swindler. That armor is more expensive than anything you save with it.

Abundance cannot enter through a clenched fist.

Be objective, not bitter. Ask, don't suspect. And if you don't sign something today because it wasn't clear – that's not a missed opportunity. That's self-respect.
