EIGHT OF SWORDS – finances
Primary meaning
Reversed meaning
Description
The Eight of Swords in finances is that tight spot that isn't as tight as you feel it is. The card doesn't say there's no problem – it says you have more room to maneuver than you see.
This card often comes to those who are financially paralyzed. Not because nothing can be done, but because anxiety narrows your field of vision. When you're afraid, it doesn't occur to you to ask. It doesn't occur to you to request. It doesn't occur to you to look into it. You just stand there.
Look at the swords: not one is touching you. The loan, the tight month, the expense that's coming – they stand around you, but they don't pierce you. And the circle is open in the front.
The blindfold on your eyes is the most important thing here. As long as you don't look there, everything feels bigger than it is. Whoever knows exactly where they stand can also see the room to maneuver: which bill can be postponed, where payment in installments can be requested, what isn't actually urgent.
The swamp is the sluggishness: the longer you stand in it, the more hopeless it feels. The situation hasn't deteriorated – you've just run out of faith that you can take action.
There's the castle on the hill: accessible, unguarded. The card doesn't promise wealth, only that the wall you see isn't a wall. Push up the blindfold and look around.
Message
The angels have a message for you: you have more room to maneuver than you see. They are not saying there are no troubles. They are saying that the wall you see before you is not a wall.
Look at the card: which sword is touching it? None. They are just standing around it. And the circle is open at the front.
I know that when you are anxious about money, your world closes in. Fear has a peculiarity: it takes away ideas. It doesn't occur to you to ask. It doesn't occur to you to request. It doesn't occur to you to look into it. You just stand there, calculating at night. This is not foolishness – this is how a frightened brain works.
Therefore, the first step is not the solution. The first step is to push up the blindfold. Sit down and look exactly where you stand. Until you look, everything feels bigger than it really is. Someone who knows where they stand can already see the room to maneuver: which bill can be postponed, where installments can be requested, what is not actually urgent.
And name one of the swords. Say: "I think I cannot ask for installment payments." Then ask. In the worst case, they will say no – and then at least you will know exactly where you are. This is also freedom.
The swamp under your feet represents heaviness: the longer you stand in it, the more hopeless you feel. The situation has not deteriorated. You simply lost faith that you could take a step.
If the card is reversed: the blindfold slips off. You will see an opportunity that was there all along – and you will be amazed that you didn't notice it.
