Atvirkštinė reikšmė

lack of self-confidence, suppressed radiance, jealousy, fading fire

Correspondences — Element: Fire · Suit: Wands · Rank: Queen · Yes–No: Yes

The Image and Symbolism of the Card

The Queen sits on her throne with an open posture, her knees spread – not closed, not defensive. In one hand, a wand; in the other, a sunflower: power and warmth simultaneously.

On her throne are lions, and on her cloak, the symbols of fire. The sunflower turns towards the light. Everything on the card says the same thing: this person does not apologize for existing.

The Black Cat

A black cat sits at her feet, looking directly at us. This is the most interesting detail of the card.

The cat is the shadow: instinct, temper, jealousy, the darker part – that which most people hide behind them. The Queen does not hide it. She places it before her.

This is her secret. She is not strong because she is perfect, but because she is whole. She embraces herself with her shadow – and precisely for this reason, she cannot be blackmailed. One who has nothing to hide cannot be held captive.

Who is this Person

The Queen is confident, warm, self-identified strength. She knows her worth and is not ashamed of it. She doesn't need to be loud to have a presence in the room.

Her power is her aura. This is not a matter of beauty or perfection: charisma is the ability to be fully present as oneself, with both the good and the challenging parts.

And there is something rare in her: strong and kind at the same time. Most people believe they must choose between the two. This card says no.

When Someone Else Is This

This card often indicates a woman or a person with feminine energy in your life: someone warm-hearted, confident, open, whom others gladly lean on. The kind of person who makes others braver by their side.

If such a person is around you, it's worth staying close to them. Not because they will solve things for you, but because their presence reminds you that it is possible to live this way.

When You Are This

The Queen arrives when it's time for you to embrace yourself.

You don't have to make yourself seem smaller. It doesn't help anyone if you burn less brightly – diminishing yourself is not modesty, but an old habit someone once instilled in you.

And this card also asks you to look at your black cat. At the part of you that you hide: the temper, the envy, the desire, the fear. You don't have to conquer it. Just sit beside it. The strength that comes from an accepted shadow is much more stable than any striving for perfection.

The Meaning of the Rank

The arc of the court cards: the Page is the learner, the Knight is the rushing one, the Queen is the radiant one, the King is the responsible one.

The Queen is the third degree, and this is the inwardly matured fire. She no longer needs to rush to exist. She doesn't do, but is – and yet more happens around her than from the Knight's rush.

Fire at this Degree

In the Page, a spark; in the Knight, a flame; in the Queen, an ember: it doesn't blaze, it doesn't show off, but it endures and warms.

This is the kind of fire by which others can warm themselves without getting burned.

The Shadow Side

The shadow is jealousy and possessiveness. The warmth of the Queen of Wands can easily turn into heat if she feels she is losing what is hers.

The other shadow is fading away: when someone consciously makes themselves smaller for years to make others more comfortable. This is not goodness, but a slow extinguishing.
