This is the month when you pay one bill from another. When you know exactly how much is on your card each day, and which payment you can push back by two more days. You're doing it cleverly. Really cleverly – this card doesn't mean incompetence, but the opposite. It's a virtuoso performance, it's just that no one applauds for it.

But notice the ribbon between the coins: a loop. The coins aren't free, and you're not tossing them around – the loop carries both, and you're running after them. That's the essence of the juggling. It won't turn into a disaster, it just will never end.

And look at the ships in the background. What you're juggling with now is small money. The big thing is out on the water, and you don't dare to look at it. That's precisely why you're juggling: moving the small money at least makes it seem like you're doing something. At least you're doing something. The juggling is the most elegant escape from what you can't control.

Also look at the hat: huge, ridiculous. This is the face you show. "We're fine, there's just a lot going on right now." And no one knows that you wake up at dawn and count.

The card's request is not for you to be more clever. It's for you to stop and look at the ship. Write it down once, honestly, where you stand: how much comes in, how much goes out, how much it all is. It won't feel good – but uncertainty always costs more than the truth.

Then put one thing down. One expense, one subscription, one commitment, just one.
