Descriere

In terms of work, the Eight of Pentacles is the most sincere card: something will be good if you do it eight times.

Look at the picture. A master sits on a bench, carving a coin. Next to him are five finished coins – all the same. The same pattern, again and again.

This card is not about inspiration. It's about repetition. Talent is cheap: everyone knows talented people who never amounted to anything. What is expensive is for someone to sit down and do it – even if they don't feel like it, even if no one is watching.

And here is an important truth: it's not enthusiasm that brings work, but work that brings enthusiasm. Whoever waits for enthusiasm to come first will wait forever.

There is no success in the picture. No money, recognition, audience. This is the stage that no one posts about: when nothing has come of it yet, you're just doing it, and everyone is asking when something will come of it.

You are in a good place. This is what it looks like from the inside.

But look at the background: there's the city, and he's sitting with his back to it. This is the price. Whoever truly learns something misses out on things. This is okay – but the eight is not a permanent state. You have to get up sometime, otherwise your craft will become a refuge.

The shadow: apathy (you're just doing it, and the quality silently deteriorates – that's when you need a break), or perfectionism (you've been polishing the same coin for six months, because as long as it's with you, it can still be perfect).

Mesaj

You are in the right place. Tonight, I want you to believe this – because you don't feel it.

Look at the card. A man sits on a bench, with a hammer, carving coins. Next to him, on a pillar, are five finished coins.

This is the whole picture. There is no success in it. There is no money, no recognition, no applause, no audience. Just a man working.

This is the stage nobody talks about. When nothing has come of it yet, you're just doing it. When they ask, "well, when will something come of this?", and you don't have a good answer – and at night, the question replays in your head.

This card says only one thing: this is what it looks like from the inside. Every craft looks like this while it lasts.

Look at the finished coins. They are not different. The same pattern, again and again. Because this card is not about inspiration, but about repetition. Talent is cheap – everyone knows talented people who amounted to nothing. What's expensive is someone doing the same thing eight times.

Today, don't invent anything new. Don't plan, don't read another book about it, don't start a new direction. Do what you did yesterday.

And look at the background: there's the city, full of life, and he sits with his back to it. This is the price, and I won't lie that it doesn't exist. There is a stage – sometimes years – when you sit on the bench while others are in the city. This is okay. But eventually, you have to stand up: the eight is not a permanent state.

Eight coins are needed. You are at the sixth. This is the part where most people stop.

Don't stop.
