The image and symbolism of the card

A man stands in his garden, leaning on a hoe. In front of him is a bush with six coins on it. One coin lies separately on the ground.

And observe his face. He is not happy. Nor is he sad. He is looking.

This is the quietest card in the deck. Nothing is happening in it – and that is precisely the point.

The moment no one talks about

This card represents that moment when you stop in the middle of your work, look at what you are doing, and a question arises within you that you have been avoiding for months:

Is this even worth it?

It’s not a failure. The bush is alive, the fruit is on it. Nor is it a success – it hasn’t ripened yet. You just stand there with the hoe, and you don’t know if what you are doing is wisdom or self-deception.

This card sanctifies this moment. It’s okay to doubt. He who never stops to look at what he is doing is not persistent – he is merely blind.

The hoe

Look at how he holds it. He is not working with it. He is leaning on it.

This card does not mean laziness. It means tiredness. This person has been doing this for a long time. Not for weeks – for years.

And tiredness is the mother of doubt. When you are exhausted, everything long-term seems meaningless. This is not wisdom, just tiredness – and decisions made in tiredness are the worst decisions.

Don't give up on anything tonight. Sleep on it.

The Seven's place in the sequence

The Eight is still working. The Nine is already harvesting. The Seven stands between them – and this is the most difficult position in the entire suit.

Because here, momentum no longer carries you, and the goal does not yet pull you. In the beginning, everything is exciting; in the end, everything is visible. In the middle, you just do it.

Most people give up here. Not because of difficulty. Because of boredom.

The seventh coin on the ground

This is the most subtle detail of this card.

Six coins on the bush. One on the ground, separate.

This means: you need to write something off already. Not everything – one thing. There was a branch that didn't bear fruit. A client, an idea, a direction within the plan that didn't work, and you're still watering it because you put two years into it.

You're watering it precisely because you put two years into it. This is the most expensive mistake you can make: throwing good money after bad, good years after bad.

The dropped coin is not a failure. It's tuition.

What you drop on the ground is not lost – it becomes part of the earth.

What grows slowly

This card is Earth-elemental, and this is its most important correspondence.

Everything in the earth grows slowly. You cannot rush it, you cannot figure out when it will ripen, and you cannot pull it out of the ground to see if it has roots. He who does this kills the plant.

If you don't see the yield now, it doesn't mean there isn't one. It means it's underground.

The shadow

In a reversed position, impatience wins. You give up just in the penultimate month. Or conversely: you've been watering something for years that no longer yields anything, and you don't dare to admit it.

Both mistakes are equally serious. Only one hurts faster.

The card's request

Don't decide today. Look.

Sit down and honestly look: what is truly ripening? And what is that one thing you should already put down?

Then pick up the hoe again. It's not harvest time yet.
