The Card's Image and Symbolism
A knight in armor gallops, his sword raised high. The horse is in full gallop, its hooves leaving the ground. The wind tears at his cape, the trees bend backward, the clouds are ragged. Nothing stands still in the picture. Everything rushes.
This is the fastest card in the entire deck. There is no stopping, no doubt, no bargaining in it.
And notice what is missing: there is no shield. He protects nothing. He only attacks.
The Momentum
The Knight of Swords is the energy that sweeps away everything in its path – including what it didn't intend to sweep away.
This card is beautiful when it faces the right direction. He is the one who says what no one else does. Who starts when everyone else is deliberating. Who accomplishes in a week what others have been talking about for half a year.
There is no great thing in the world that didn't begin with such a moment: someone got tired of planning and just started.
The Price
But look at the horse. The knight doesn't truly control it – the horse carries him.
This is the shadow of this card. It's not that it's fast. It's that speed eventually takes over. You start because it's important, and then you keep going because you can't stop. And at some point, you don't even remember why you started.
Impatience is not strength. It just looks like it.
The Sword That Cannot Wait
The sword is up, in an attacking stance. The suit of Swords represents words, thoughts, language.
So this card very often represents the message you write in ten seconds. The sentence you absolutely must say, right now, immediately. The argument you must win.
And here is the most important lesson of this card: your truth will not spoil by tomorrow. If something is true at eleven o'clock tonight, it will be true in the morning. But what you send at eleven o'clock, you cannot retract in the morning.
The Missing Shield
This is the most telling detail of this card. Every other knight has protection. Here, there is none.
Someone who approaches something this way not only wounds others – they also leave themselves defenseless. They have no plan for if they are hit back. There is no consideration of what will happen afterward.
The Knight of Swords therefore often wins a battle and loses a war. Wins the argument and loses the person. Speaks the truth and doesn't understand why no one talks to them for a week.
His courage is not the problem. It's that he believes courage is enough.
Who Is This Person?
If this card represents someone, they are easy to recognize. Impressive. Quick-witted. Always knows the answer. Everything is fast-paced with them.
And it's exhausting to be around them. Because they don't listen all the way through. Because by the time you finish your sentence, they're already answering. Because everything turns into an argument.
If you have such a person around you, the card doesn't ask you to run away from them. Only this: don't let their pace become your pace too.
The Wind Blowing Against Him
Look at the trees: the wind blows against him. Yet he goes.
This is the beauty of this knight. He doesn't start when it's comfortable. He doesn't speak when it's safe. There is a pure courage in him that should not be trampled – only reined in.
If this card has come to you now: the momentum is good. The direction is the question.
Stop for a moment – not to change your mind. But to see where you are going. Then gallop on.
